Numbers To Be Displayed On Residences and Buildings

Public Notice: Please be advised that the City of Portageville has an ordinance, Section 500.120, which sets regulations regarding the displaying of numbers on residences and buildings within Portageville. It is important that emergency personnel be able to locate your home quickly should an emergency occur. It is difficult for emergency vehicles to find homes and businesses who do not have their address numbers posted.
All building numbers shall be of readable form and sufficient size as to be visible from the street that the residence faces. It is the duty of the owner of each dwelling fronting a public street to keep and maintain the number displayed on the dwelling.
Residents have until the end of the year to bring their buildings up to code. Beginning January 2026, Code Enforcement will start enforcing the displaying of numbers on residences and buildings.
